Job summary

Cogir Senior Living in Newmarket, ON is seeking a Registered Practical Nurse for a casual part-time role at Alexander Muir Retirement Residence. You will provide planned, patient‑centered nursing care within a multi-disciplinary team, adhering to provincial standards and maintaining accurate documentation.

The position requires current RPN registration, Basic Life Support, First Aid, and a Vulnerable Sector Check.

Qualifications

• Current registration as a Registered Practical Nurse in the applicable province.
• Demonstrated sound clinical knowledge.
• Experience with seniors and with unregulated care providers preferred.
• Education and experience in gerontology, rehabilitation, or long-term care an asset.
• Strong drive, respect and understanding of the emotional and physical demands of the role.
• Focus on teamwork and customer service with the ability to build trusted relationships.
• Strong written and oral communication skills and critical thinking.
• Organizational and time management skills.
• Computer proficiency and Microsoft Office experience.
• Current Basic Life Support and First Aid certification required.
• Current (within six months) Vulnerable Sector Check (including a Criminal Background Check) or be willing to obtain one

RPNs are responsible for providing planned, patient-oriented, goal-directed nursing care in accordance with the provincial standards of care.

RPNs are an integral part of our multi-disciplinary team who build trusted relationships with our residents, families and teams with continuous ongoing and effective communication.

RPNs implement and evaluate the effectiveness of the care plans and make changes as required.

RPNs complete and ensure resident’s clinical care assessments, care plans and documentation are accurate, up to date and communicate changes as required.
