Job summary

Cogir Senior Living in Mississauga, Ontario is seeking a Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) to deliver patient-centered nursing care to residents in retirement residences. The role involves collaborating with a multi-disciplinary team and ensuring care plans meet provincial standards.

Qualifications

• Current Registration as a Registered Practical Nurse in the applicable province.
• Sound clinical knowledge.
• Experience working with seniors and with unregulated care providers preferred.
• Education in gerontology, rehabilitation, or long-term care is an asset.
• Strong drive, respect and understanding of the job's emotional and physical demands.
• Focus on teamwork and customer service with ability to build trusted relationships.
• Strong written and oral communication and critical thinking skills.
• Organizational and time management skills.
• Computer proficiency and experience with Microsoft Office applications.
• Current Basic Cardiac Life Support and First Aid certification required.
• Current (within six months) Vulnerable Sector Check (including a Criminal Background Check) or willingness to obtain one.

Responsibilities

• Provide planned, patient-oriented nursing care in accordance with provincial standards.
• Be part of a multidisciplinary team and communicate with residents, families, and staff.
• Implement and evaluate care plans and update as required.
• Complete and ensure residents' assessments, care plans and documentation are accurate.
• Teach, delegate and direct unregulated care providers with coaching and mentorship.

How YOU make a difference

RPNs are responsible for providing planned, patient-oriented, goal-directed nursing care in accordance with the provincial standards of care.

RPNs are an integral part of our multi-disciplinary team who build trusted relationships with our residents, families and teams with continuous ongoing and effective communication.

RPNs implement and evaluate the effectiveness of the care plans and make changes as required.

RPNs complete and ensure resident’s clinical care assessments, care plans and documentation are accurate, up to date and communicate changes as required.

RPNs teach, delegate and direct unregulated care providers, providing them with coaching & mentorship.

• Demonstrated sound clinical knowledge

• Education and experience in gerontology, rehabilitation, community/complex/long term care an asset
• Strong drive, respect and an understanding of the emotional and physical demands of the role
• Focus on teamwork and customer service with the ability to build trusted relationships
• Strong written and oral communication skills and critical thinking skills
• Demonstrated organizational and time management skills
• Computer proficiency and experience with Microsoft office applications
