Job summary

AgeCare West Williams in Kitchener, Ontario, is seeking a part-time Registered Practical Nurse to join our care team. The role supports residents under the guidance of the Registered Nurse and coordinates with physicians and the health care team to ensure high-quality resident care.

The successful candidate will have a solid background in geriatric and long-term care nursing, knowledge of relevant acts, and a current CNO certificate of competence.

Qualifications

• Background in geriatric, rehabilitation or long-term care nursing.
• Knowledge of applicable acts and regulations (LTC Act, OHSA, Pharmacy Act, Food & Drugs Act, Controlled Substances Act).
• Current Certificate of Competence from the College of Nurses of Ontario and in good standing.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the Registered Nurse to implement policies on the unit.
• Liaise with physicians and health care team members.
• In RN's absence, notify physician of significant changes in resident status.
• Provide direction to Personal Support Workers on the care team.
• Participate in shift reports to inform team of changes in resident status.

The Registered Practical Nurse provides direction to the Personal Support Workers as defined by the College of Nurses Standard of Practice Working with Unregulated Health Care Workers. Provides input into the revision of procedures within the residence and the unit.* Liaises with physicians and other members of the health care team including external health care partners.
