Job summary

Humber River Health is seeking a Registered Practical Nurse to support the Medicine, 9 West Unit within the Acute Inpatient Medicine Program. This permanent part-time role features an evening shift from 15:30 to 23:30, with weekday and weekend rotation.

Successful candidates will hold an RPN diploma, active CCNO registration, and ideally at least one year of acute medical/surgical experience. BCLS certification and proactivity in patient education are valued assets.

Qualifications

• Graduate from a recognized Registered Practical Nursing two year diploma program.
• Current RPN registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
• Minimum 1 year acute medical/surgical experience, preferred.
• Current BCLS certification.
• Excellent organizational skills with an ability to set priorities.
• Experience with patient health teaching.
• Demonstrate adherence to the hospital’s code of conduct.
• Demonstrate competency in a variety of skills including (but not limited to), IM injections, IV therapy initiation, Blood Transfusion, wound care dressing, medication administration, etc.
• Proven attendance record.
• Knowledge of community resources.
• Excellent attendance and discipline free record required.

Right now we are looking for a Registered Practical Nurse to work with our Medicine, 9 West Unit in the Acute Inpatient Medicine Program.

Employment Status: Permanent Part Time

Reporting Relationship: Manager, 9 E&W & Nephrology & Medicine

Hourly Rate: $38.893 - $39.458

Union Group: NOWU

Hours of work: 8 hour evening shift 15:30-23:30 hrs, rotating weekdays and weekends.

Location: Humber River Health – Wilson Site

Position Responsibilities

Registered Practical Nursing duties as outlined by the College of Ontario Nurses.

Qualifications

• Graduate from a recognized Registered Practical Nursing two year diploma program.
• Current RPN registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
• Minimum 1 year acute medical/surgical experience, preferred.
• Current BCLS certification.
• Excellent organizational skills with an ability to set priorities.
• Experience with patient health teaching.
• Demonstrate adherence to the hospital’s code of conduct.
• Demonstrate competency in a variety of skills including (but not limited to), intramuscular injections, intravenous therapy initiation and discontinuation, Blood Transfusion, Wound Care Dressing, Medication Administration, etc.
• Proven attendance record.
• Basic computer skills and Meditech experience is an asset.
• Knowledge of community resources.
• Excellent attendance and discipline free record required.
