Job summary

Humber River Health in Toronto is seeking a Registered Practical Nurse to join the Acute Medicine Unit, 12 West. This full-time role offers rotating 8- or 12-hour shifts (days/evenings/nights/weekends) at the Wilson Site, with a wage of CAD 38.893–39.458 per hour.

You will coordinate care with an interprofessional team, perform Meditech 6.0 documentation, mentor new staff, and contribute to unit-based projects while delivering safe, patient-centered care.

Qualifications

  • Graduate from an RPN two-year diploma program.
  • Current RPN registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
  • Current BCLS certification.
  • Excellent organizational skills; ability to set priorities.
  • Minimum 2 years of recent medical/geriatric experience preferred.
  • Critical thinking and prioritization skills.
  • Experience with patient health teaching.
  • Competency in procedures including injections, IV therapy, transfusion, wound care, medications.
  • Meditech 6.0 experience is an asset.
  • Knowledge of community resources.

Responsibilities

  • RPN responsibilities for general medicine, geriatric, ALC and palliative inpatients.
  • Coordination of care within an interprofessional team.

Right now we’re looking for a Registered Practical Nurse to work in our Acute Medicine Unit, 12 West

Employment Status: Full-Time

Reporting Relationship: Manager, 12 E/W

Hourly Rate: $38.893 - $39.458

Union Group: NOWU

Hours of work: Rotating shifts, 8 or 12 hours, days/evenings/nights/weekends

Location: Humber River Health – Wilson Site

Responsibilities

  • Complete electronic Meditech 6.0 documentation system
  • Participation in unit based projects or hospital committees as required
  • Mentorship for new hires and pre-grad RPN nursing students
Qualification

  • Current RPN registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
  • Current BCLS certification.

  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to problem solve with the team.
  • Experience with patient health teaching.
  • Demonstrate competency in a variety of skills including (but not limited to), intramuscular injections, intravenous therapy initiation and discontinuation, Blood Transfusion, Wound Care Dressing, Medication Administration, etc.
  • Demonstrate adherence to the hospital’s code of conduct.
  • Advance Physical Assessment Skill is required.
  • Basic computer skills and Meditech 6.0 experience is an asset.
  • Knowledge of community resources.
  • Excellent attendance and discipline free record required.
