Job summary

Humber River Health is seeking a Registered Nurse for the 8W Acute Medical Unit on a temporary part-time basis at the Wilson site. You will rotate days, nights, evenings and weekends, with an hourly rate of $41.15–$58.98.

The role includes care planning, coordination with the team, pain assessment, and documentation using computerized systems. The successful candidate will have current RN registration in Ontario, BCLS certification, and at least 2 years of medical/surgical experience, with

  • Current RN registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
  • Active BCLS certification or demonstrated competency.
  • Minimum 2 years of recent medical/surgical experience.
  • Basic computer skills and ability to use healthcare software.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and teamwork abilities.

Responsibilities

  • RN responsibilities for general medicine, geriatrics, ALC, palliative inpatients, neurologic and hip fracture care.
  • Care planning and coordination with multidisciplinary team.
  • Assess and manage pain; document using computerized systems.
  • Participate in hospital committees or project teams as required.
  • Provide resource and team leadership; precept nursing students.

Reporting Relationship: Manager of 8 East & West

Hourly Rate Range: $41.15 - $58.98

Schedule Requirements: Must be able to work rotating shifts days, nights, evenings and weekends

Position Responsibilities:

  • RN responsibilities for general medicine, geriatric, ALC, palliative inpatients, geriatrics,neurology, medicine, and hip fracture patients.
  • Care planning and coordination of care with various team members.
  • Assessment of pain management.
  • Utilization of computerized systems for patient care documentation.
  • Participation in project teams or Hospital committees as required.
  • Resource/team leader responsibilities.
  • Preceptorship of nursing students.

Qualifications:

  • Current RN registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario
  • Current BCLS certification or demonstrated competency.
  • 2 years of recent medical/surgical experience perferred.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Good problem solving skills.
  • Willingness to rotate to other departments as required.
  • Demonstrated excellent interpersonal and communication skills, ability to work with a multidisciplinary team, patients, family members and visitors
  • Excellent organizational skills and problem solving skills.
  • Demonstrated patient assessment skills. Related patient assessment course is preferred.
  • Excellent attendance and discipline free record required.
