Job summary

Discovery Kidd seeks a Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) to join our team in a growing North America precious metals company. The successful candidate will provide emergency nursing care, health monitoring, and education to employees across our Kidd Operations.

You will document all nursing interactions and support WSIB-related claims research as needed. Ideal candidates hold a CCNO certificate, CPR and medications administration certifications, and have prior nursing experience.

Qualifications

• Must hold a Certificate of Competence from the College of Nurses of Ontario.
• CPR certification and Administration of Medications certification required.
• First Aid and Audiometry certification desirable but not required.
• Previous nursing experience is essential.
• Ability to work independently and maintain confidentiality.
• Capable of responding to emergencies quickly and directing staff during emergencies.

Responsibilities

• Provide a wide variety of nursing services and document care.
• Provide emergency nursing care for workplace injuries and illnesses.
• Provide ongoing nursing care to hasten recovery.
• Conduct health monitoring and health teaching.
• Assist with research for WSIB claims as required.
• Schedule medical surveillance and testing for employees.
• Perform respirator fit testing, audiometry, and pre-placement assessments.
• Maintain computer records and filing of medical reports.
• Serve as first-line emergency response.
• Perform other non-medical duties.

The Position:

Reporting to the Health and Hygiene Supervisor, the Registered Practical Nurse provides emergency care for all occupational injuries and non-occupational illnesses and provides health monitoring and teaching to maintain and promote health.

Key Responsibilities:

The incumbent will be responsible to:

• Provide a wide variety of nursing services, and to document nursing care given
• Provide emergency nursing care for all occupational and non-occupational injury or illness
• Provide continuing nursing care to hasten recovery
• Provide individual health monitoring and teaching to maintain and promote health
• Assist with research for WSIB claims as required
• Schedule employees for medical surveillance and testing
• Perform respirator fit testing, audiometry, pre-placement assessments
• Maintain computer records, and maintain proper filing of medical reports
• Serve as first-line emergency response
• Perform a number of other non-medical duties

Skills and Qualifications:

The ideal Candidate will have:

• A valid Certificate of Competence from the College of Nurses of Ontario, CPR certification, and Administration of Medications certification.
• First Aid and Audiometry certification is desirable but will be provided if necessary.
• Previous nursing experience is essential.
• Capable of working independently in a self-directed manner and comfortable working in a confidential manner and controlling confidential material.
• Capable of responding to emergency situations quickly and calmly, and of directing non-medical personnel during emergencies.

Compensation and Benefits:

Competitive total compensation package including:
