Job summary

Halton Healthcare’s 6C Oncology unit in Oakville seeks a compassionate registered practical nurse to provide patient-centered care in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment.

You will join a multi-disciplinary team, rotate 12-hour shifts, and contribute to safe, high-quality care while meeting BLS and Ontario nursing standards.

Qualifications

• Current registration in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required at time of hire.
• Recent acute care medical experience required.
• Advanced RPN and assessment skills including aseptic technique, N/G insertion, suctioning and airway maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient-centered care on 6C Oncology unit.
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, pharmacists and discharge planner to ensure safe, high-quality care.
• Support timely care delivery and patient-family engagement.

Job Description

6C Oncology is a 36 bed medicine unit.We provide exemplary patient and family centered care to patients with both an oncology diagnosis and other patients with general medicine diagnoses. We have a multi-disciplinary team including physicians, nurses, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, pharmacists, dietitian and discharge planner who collaborate to provide safe, high quality care in a timely fashion to our patient population

• Current registration in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario
• Current Heart & Stroke approved Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required at time of hire
• Recent acute care medical experience required.
• Advanced RPN and assessment skills including aseptic technique, N/G insertion, suctioning and airway maintenance.
• Medication administration certificate an asset.
• Organized and with ability to work in a team environment.

• Good team player with positive attitude.
• Evidence of continued learning.
• Must be physically able to do the job, which involves heavy lifting and intensive physical effort.

Additional Information

Hours:Various rotating 12 hour shifts - 0730-1930 and 1930 to 0730 (Hours are subject to change based on operational needs)

Salary:$36.08 to $39.02 per hour
