Job summary

Four Counties Health Services in Newbury, Ontario, seeks a temporary, full-time Registered Practical Nurse to join the Active Care Nursing Unit for about one year. The successful candidate will cover all shifts, including nights and weekends, in inpatient and emergency care.

The requirements include current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario, BCLS, and 2–3 years of medical nursing; emergency experience preferred.

Job description

Four Counties Health Services (FCHS) is a primary care facility people providing emergency care, diagnostic services, and rehabilitation. Serving approximately 23,000 residents, it is located in the village of Newbury at the intersection of Lambton, Kent, Middlesex and Elgin Counties.

FCHS offers extensive outpatient care by provided by medical staff and visiting specialists, 24-hour access to a physician on-call for emergencies, continuing care and minor surgical services, an active and successful Adult Day Centre and supports numerous community programs such as Meals on Wheels, and VON’s Palliative Care Volunteer Program.

With 19 visiting specialists, FCHS provides emergency services close to home, following and helping to navigate patients through the spectrum of health care options.

Description

The Middlesex Hospital Alliance is seeking a temporary, full-time Registered Practical Nurse to practice responsibilities within the Active Care Nursing Unit at their Four Counties Health Services site for the duration of approximately 1 year.

The successful candidate will be available for all shifts (7.5 and 11.25 hours, including nights, weekends, statutory holidays, and call in providing inpatient and emergency care. This position is available immediately.

Qualifications

• Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario
• Current BCLS required
• Demonstrated commitment to medical nursing – minimum 2 – 3 yrs. (equivalent to 1950 hrs.) of previous medical nursing experience
• 2 – 3 years of Emergency Nursing experience (equivalent to 1950 hrs) - preferred
• Current Triage experience preferred
• Cardiac Care experience involving ECG monitoring and interpretation preferred
• ACLS, TNCC, PALS preferred
• Certificate(s) in Emergency Nursing and/or Critical Care an asset
• Demonstrated ability to assess concurrent demands, set priorities, organize work and maintain accuracy and concentration during periods of high activity
• Excellent physical assessment skills
• Demonstrated effective interpersonal, communication and critical thinking skills
• Demonstrated organizational and leadership skills
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in an interdisciplinary team
• Evidence of ongoing professional development and self-directed learning

• Understanding and use of good body mechanics
• Advanced Computer Skills in a Windows environment

If successful, you must provide vaccination records or proof of immunity against measles, mumps rubella and varicella (chicken pox). Must provide proof of two COVID-19 vaccinations. You will also be required to provide documentation of the Tuberculosis skin testing within the previous 12 months.

Salary

$40.14 – $41.22 per hour
