Job summary

Sienna Senior Living is seeking a Registered Practical Nurse for Aspira Island View Retirement Living in Arnprior, Ontario. This casual on-call position covers vacations and open shifts with shifts 7:00am-3:00pm, 3:00pm-11:00pm, and 11:00pm-7:00am. Weekend availability is required.

You will provide compassionate nursing care, manage medications per physician orders and standards, document thoroughly, and support residents’ daily living while contributing to a caring team culture.

Qualifications

• Current registration as a Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
• Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) Certificate.
• Current Medication Administration Certificate.
• Minimum of one year experience in Geriatric Nursing, Healthcare and/or Rehabilitation as an RPN.

• Strong knowledge of safe medication administration, with the ability to prepare and administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with physician orders and the College of Nurses of Ontario standards
• Excellent documentation and communication skills, with the ability to follow up on all concerns and complaints forwarded by a Client, family or team members and informs/seeks assistance from the Registered Nurse or designate
• Promoting the Client’s self‑care and self‑sufficiency, emphasize adaptation and abilities, promote wellness and provide preventative health education, thus by treating the whole person
• Proven ability to complete assessments, RAPS, and individualized care plans accurately and within required timeframes
• Supporting the unregulated care workers through guidance, direction, training and education
• Post‑graduate studies in Geriatrics and Nursing Administration is an asset
• Performing other duties as assigned

What you need to know:

• Current registration as a Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
• Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) Certificate.
• Current Medication Administration Certificate.
• Minimum of one (1) year experience in Geriatric Nursing, Healthcare and/or Rehabilitation as a Registered Practical Nurse (RPN).
• You must be legally eligible to work in Canada or have a valid work/study permit
• You must successfully pass a Vulnerable Sector Check
