Job summary

Shoppers Drug Mart Inc. is hiring an Overnight Registered Pharmacy Technician for Central Pharmacy Services in Richmond Hill, ON. You will handle prescription processing, ensure accuracy and safety, and support pharmacists in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.

The role demands an RPhT license in good standing, liability coverage, and at least 1 year of pharmacy experience. The position runs 10pm–6am Sunday to Thursday with some holidays and weekend coverage.

Qualifications

• Licensed and registered with the College of Pharmacists as RPhT.
• Liability insurance to legally practice as an RPhT.
• Minimum 1 year of continuous working experience in a pharmacy environment (Long Term Care, Hospital, or Retail)
• Experience with high-volume filling environments is preferred
• Effective written and verbal communication skills

Responsibilities

• Ensure accuracy of prepared medication by checking prescriptions and ensuring legal compliance and product quality.
• Count and reconcile Narcotic and Controlled medications accurately.
• Keep products organized to maintain workflow and on-time delivery.
• Protect patient privacy and confidentiality per regulations.

Why this role is important?

A Registered Pharmacy Technician (RPhT) plays a critical role in CPS operations by ensuring accurate, safe, and efficient prescription processing while performing regulated technical responsibilities that allow Pharmacists to focus on clinical care. RPhTs are essential to patient safety, regulatory compliance, operational efficiency, and prescription turnaround times. Their specialized expertise directly supports CPS’s ability to scale operations, manage increasing prescription volumes, reduce workflow bottlenecks, and maintain consistent service delivery across sites.

We are hiring an Overnight Registered Pharmacy Technician. The scheduled shift will be OVERNIGHT (10pm-6am) Sunday to Thursday with requirements to work some statutory holidays and weekends and be flexible to cover other shifts based on business needs.

What you'll do:

• Responsible for ensuring accuracy of prepared medication by checking each prescription and ensuring legal compliance and product quality. This includes weekly strip packaged medications, compliance packages and all non-packaged products


• Responsible for ensuring appropriate corrections are completed when identified


• Accurately count and reconcile Narcotic and Controlled medications


• Responsible for checking products in an organized and efficient manner to maintain workflow and ensure delivery routes leave at their scheduled times


• Patient privacy and confidentiality is protected in accordance with regulations


• Keep current with and align with legal requirements, professional standards, and where provided, workplace policies and procedures

What you bring:

• Licensed and registered with the College of Pharmacists as Registered Pharmacy Technician (RPhT), in good standing
