Job Details

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Assist Pharmacy Manager in the day-to-day management of workload;
  2. Collaborate with Pharmacists and Pharmacy Assistants to fulfill prescription orders;
  3. Work independently on labeling and filling/refilling prescriptions;
  4. Perform an independent double check for repeat prescription release;
  5. Verify that customers receive the correct prescription(s);
  6. Identify potential therapeutic issues and seek the Pharmacist’s therapeutic check;
  7. Work collaboratively with Innomar and ABSG Patient Programs in fulfilling pharmacy responsibilities;
  8. Prepare, review, and process billings, claims, disbursements, and related documents;
  9. Assist patients who are picking up prescriptions;
  10. Enter prescriptions into the computer; retrieve and/or correct data in computer;
  11. Screen calls and gather relevant information for Pharmacist;
  12. Order, maintain, and prepare inventory of medications;
  13. Review invoices or other documentation;
  14. Pack and ship prescription orders;
  15. Receive and maintain accurate inventory;
  16. Report Adverse Events in accordance with provincial regulatory standards and, where applicable, internal and contractual obligations;
  17. The Registered Pharmacy Technician is required to renew their OCP Registration annually and participate in the Quality Assurance Process regularly as part of their continuing education;
  18. The Registered Pharmacy Technician will also be assigned other duties and tasks as required from time to time;
  19. May be required to be on standby/on call as part of this role.

Experience and Educational Requirements:

  1. Pharmacy Technician diploma from an accredited college and successful completion of Structured Practical Training or Ontario College of Pharmacists (OCP) Bridging Program with a Certificate of Registration;
  2. Two or more years of related pharmacy experience;
  3. Strong proficiency in Kroll required;
  4. Proficiency in Microsoft applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint);
  5. Bilingualism in French/English is an asset.

Minimum Skills, Knowledge, and Ability Requirements:

  1. Excellent knowledge of pharmacy operations;
  2. Working knowledge of the pharmaceutical industry and drug distribution practices;
  3. Demonstrated excellence in customer service;
  4. Business and financial acumen;
  5. Strong analytical and mathematical skills;
  6. Effective oral and written communication skills;
  7. Effective interpersonal skills to work within a multidisciplinary team;
  8. Organizational skills with attention to detail;
  9. Ability to meet deadlines consistently;
  10. Excellent problem-solving skills;
  11. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision;
  12. Excellent time management;
  13. Organized, capable of multitasking and maintaining accuracy;
  14. Meticulous attention to detail;
  15. May be required to lift up to 50 lbs.
