The Opportunity
The Pharmacy Technician will collaborate with pharmacists and pharmacy practice assistants to ensure safe medication preparation and dispensing. Responsibilities include technical checks of medications, clarifying medication orders, narcotic destruction, precepting students, administering medications by injection (permit required), and providing education on medication devices. The technician will also conduct medication histories within Children’s and Women’s Health surgical units. All activities must adhere to federal and provincial legislation and professional standards, including those related to sterile and non-sterile compounding.
Hours of Work
0700-1500, 0800-1600, 1300-2100. Days, evenings, weekends, holidays, and on-call rotations. 75 hours bi-weekly.
Your Qualifications
For candidates not yet licensed, an opportunity exists to complete the Eastern College Registered Pharmacy Technician Bridging Program, funded by IWK, in exchange for a return of service. Until licensure, candidates will be paid on the Pharmacy Practice Assistant scale.
