Job summary

Aved in Edmonton, AB is hiring a Permanent, Full-time Registered Pharmacy Technician to join our Pharmacy team. The role focuses on sterile compounding and technical leadership under the Pharmacy Manager, ensuring safe, accurate preparations and compliance with standards.

You must be a licensed technician with accredited training and strong aseptic skills. The position supports efficient operations, training, and ongoing quality assurance in a busy community/pharmacy setting.

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited Pharmacy Technician program.
• Licensed pharmacy technician in good standing with the Alberta College of Pharmacists.
• Proficiency in sterile compounding and aseptic technique.

Responsibilities

• Support prescription processing, preparation, packaging, labeling and dispensing activities within the scope of practice of a Registered Pharmacy Technician.
• Perform sterile compounding activities using aseptic technique in accordance with established procedures and applicable sterile compounding standards.
• Provide day-to-day technical leadership and guidance for sterile compounding activities, including workflow coordination and adherence to procedures and policies.
• Support the training, retraining and competency assessment of personnel involved in sterile compounding.
• Perform and support required sterile compounding competency activities, including garbing competency, glove fingertip sampling and media fill testing.
• Ensure compounding activities and associated documentation are completed accurately and in accordance with established procedures.
• Monitor and maintain cleanroom facilities, equipment and associated records as required.
• Perform environmental monitoring activities as required.
• Use, clean and maintain compounding equipment and support required cleanroom cleaning and maintenance activities.
• Prepare and stage components, supplies and devices required for compounding.
• Maintain inventory, including completing inventory counts and monitoring expiry dates.
• Identify and communicate concerns related to compounding schedules, processes, training, procedures, equipment or facilities to the Pharmacy Manager.
• Assist with the development and review of standard operating procedures and work instructions related to sterile compounding.
• Maintain current knowledge of applicable sterile compounding standards and practices.
• Participate in quality assurance activities, root-cause analysis and corrective actions, and regulatory inspections related to sterile compounding.
• Support other pharmacy operations and perform other duties as assigned.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Registered Pharmacy Technician supports pharmacy operations and serves as the primary technical lead for sterile compounding activities, working closely with the Pharmacy Manager to ensure preparations are compounded safely, accurately and in accordance with applicable standards, policies and procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Registered Pharmacy Technician in good standing with the Alberta College of Pharmacists.
• Sterile compounding experience strongly preferred.
• Working knowledge of sterile compounding principles and aseptic technique.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Proficiency with Kroll an asset
• Ability to provide technical guidance and work collaboratively with pharmacists, pharmacy technicians and other team members.
• Knowledge of MS Word, Excel and G Suite
• Self-motivated with a strong work ethic.

EDUCATION

• Completion of an accredited Pharmacy Technician program.
• Licensed pharmacy technician in good standing with the Alberta College of Pharmacists.
