Job summary

Aved Edmonton is seeking a Pharmacy Manager to lead daily operations, ensure compliance with ACP standards and pharmacy policies, and drive high‑quality patient care. You will supervise the team, coach staff, and maintain accurate dispensing and service delivery in a busy community/hospital setting.

• 3+ years in community or hospital pharmacy
• 1 year pharmacy management experience preferred

• Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills
• MS Word, Excel and G Suite proficiency

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily pharmacy operations, ensuring compliance with all applicable federal and provincial legislation, ACP standards, and company policies and procedures
• Fulfilling responsibilities as the Designated Manager (where applicable), maintaining pharmacy licensure and accreditation and leading ACP inspections and provider audits
• Provide guidance, direction and support to pharmacy teams to achieve daily operational goals
• Verify prescriptions for accuracy and clinical appropriateness, and provide other clinical services as required
• Ensure prescriptions are billed correctly to public and third-party payers in accordance with provider agreements
• Address issues pursuant to dispensing activities, patient care, and other services with care, empathy, and timeliness
• Manage, monitor and resolve inventory discrepancies
• Liaise between insurance plans, patient support programs, physicians, and patients to ensure all necessary paperwork and information is completed for reimbursement navigation
• Provide exceptional customer service for clients and stakeholders (patients, health care providers, industry partners)
• Lead, coach, and develop pharmacy team members through regular performance discussions, feedback, goal setting, recognition, and development planning
• Lead and support development of standard operating procedures and work instructions to reduce errors, near misses, and improve efficiency
• Provide pharmacist review and verification of compounded preparations and related documentation
• Maintain current knowledge of sterile compounding standards and support related procedures, quality activities and regulatory inspections
• Partner with Pharmacy Operations and Leadership to execute organizational strategy, monitor KPIs, and support fiscally responsible decision-making

POSITION SUMMARY

The Pharmacy/Designated Manager is responsible for overall leadership and accountability of daily pharmacy operations, team performance, and delivery of exceptional service and patient care. The Manager is responsible for performing the duties of a registered pharmacist, including dispensing prescribed medications, and providing clinical services to patients and healthcare providers in accordance with all regulations and standards of practice set by the Alberta College of Pharmacists (ACP). The Manager works closely with other members of the pharmacy team to ensure safe, compliant, and efficient dispensing, packing, and delivery of specialty medicationsand supplies,andmaintainingthe integrity of thecold-chain. The Pharmacy Manager will work collaboratively with the Registered Pharmacy Technician leading sterile compounding activities and maintain sufficient knowledge of sterile compounding standards and practices to support safe and compliant pharmacy operations. A focus on continuous improvement and developing high performing teams through coaching and performance management is required. Other administrative duties may be required to support the pharmacy team and provision of patient care.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Minimum 3+ years work experience in community or hospital pharmacy
  • At least 1 year pharmacy management experience preferred, but not required
• Working knowledge of retail pharmacy practice, biologics and specialty medications
• Experience withprocess improvement andestablishingbest practice
• Proficiency with Kroll an asset
• Strong knowledge of third-party insurance plans and special authorization procedures
• Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills
• Knowledge of MS Word, Excel and G Suite
• Demonstrates initiative, sound judgement, and ownership of decisions and outcomes

EDUCATION

• Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy (BScPhm) or Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD)
• Licensed pharmacist in good standing with the Alberta College of Pharmacists
• Standard First Aid & CPR/AED Level C certification
