Position Overview

The Complex Care and Recovery Program seeks a full-time, temporary Registered Nurse for the Structured Observation and Treatment Unit and Women’s Secure Forensic Unit. Responsibilities include providing client-centered psychiatric and general nursing care, ensuring unit security, performing assessments, developing care plans, liaising with external services, and participating in research and program development.

Skills required include behavioral observation, mental and physical assessments, crisis intervention, trauma-informed care, risk assessments, and knowledge of forensic psychiatry. The role involves shift work, including weekends, at the Queen Street Site.

Qualifications
  • Member in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario
  • Current B.C.L.S. (CPR) certification
  • Preferably pursuing or possessing a BScN and CNA certification in Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, leadership, and decision-making skills
  • Experience with forensic patients and risk assessment tools is an asset
  • Ability to work with diverse populations; bilingualism is an asset
