Job Description

Salary Range : $39.07 - $56.00

As a key member of the Women & Children\'s Health team, the Registered Nurse is responsible for assessment of the paediatric patient from infancy to adolescence. Commitment to parent and family education and support using a family centered approach is essential. The successful incumbent demonstrates an ability to work independently with strong clinical decision making and can facilitate discharge planning. This is a Full-Time position to work 12 hour shifts - days and nights including weekends. The physical demands of the role may include but are not limited to prolonged sitting, standing, walking, bending, lifting, pushing and pulling. This position contributes to ensuring there is a safe environment for patients, staff and visitors.

Posted hours do not constitute a guarantee that shifts will not be subject to change.

Skills and Qualifications
  • Current Certificate of Registration with the College of Nurses in Ontario (CNO) as a Registered Nurse in good standing required
  • Diploma or Baccalaureate degree in Nursing required
  • BCLS certification within the last 2 years required
  • Neonatal Resuscitation course required within the past 2 years
  • Two (2) current years paediatric experience including paediatric physical assessment skills required
  • Able to function independently in all pediatric situations
  • Must have strong medical / surgical knowledge base and evidence of ability to apply those skills in paediatric environment
  • Successful completion of a recognized Breastfeeding Certificate Program (within the past 2 years) required
  • Preference will be given to applicants who have completed APLS or PEARS within past 2 years
  • Previous experience with patient safety and quality initiatives required
  • Proven track record working effective in a multidisciplinary team
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders
  • Stellar verbal and written communication skills
  • Proven ability to remain resilient and adapt during changing priorities and critical situations
  • Experience with Meditech an asset.
  • Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis is required
  • As per the O.N.A. Collective Agreement, all O.N.A. members (full-time, part-time & casual) are eligible to apply for this position.
