Job summary

The Ottawa Hospital is seeking a Registered Nurse with neonatal/ICU experience to join our team. The role involves providing comprehensive nursing care in the NICU, participating in patient and family education, and collaborating with an interdisciplinary healthcare team.

Shifts include days and nights, 12-hour rotations, including weekends. Candidates must have Ontario nursing registration and NICU/ventilator experience, with emphasis on professional, respectful patient care.

Qualifications

  • Certificate of registration from the College of Nurses of Ontario.
  • Three months' recent experience in a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit or Special Care Nursery.
  • Three months' recent ventilator experience.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of the nursing process.
  • Willingness to participate in patient teaching and education.
  • Professional and respectful attitude to patients, public, and colleagues.
  • Eligible to work in Canada.

Rotation/Shifts

Basic Requirements
  • Certificate of registration from the College of Nurses of Ontario;
  • Three (3) months recent experience in a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and/or in a Special Care Nursery;
  • Three (3) months recent ventilator experience;
  • Demonstrates a sound knowledge of the nursing process;
  • Demonstrates a desire and ability to participate in patient teaching;
  • Demonstrates a professional and respectful attitude to patients, to the public and to colleagues;
  • Demonstrates the ability to work effectively as an active member of the health care team;
  • Identifies a commitment to personal continuing education activities;
  • Demonstrates understanding of and participation in the evaluation process;
  • Demonstrates an understanding of the application and relevance of the nursing audit;
  • Eligible to work in Canada.
Preferred Qualifications
  • A degree in nursing;
  • Neonatal High Risk course.
