Job summary

Interior Health seeks an experienced Sexual and Reproductive Health Registered Nurse to join our Trail, BC team. The RN will provide comprehensive SRH nursing services in a fast-paced environment, focusing on equity and culturally safe care.

The role emphasizes prevention, education, health promotion, and collaboration with other health providers. This is a relief part-time position with daytime shifts.

Qualifications

• Current BC RN license and registration
• Experience in sexual and reproductive health or public health preferred
• Ability to provide trauma-informed, culturally safe care

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing services related to SRH including STBBI screening, testing, treatment and contact tracing, contraceptive management, pelvic exams, cervical cancer screening, HIV prevention.
• Apply health equity, social justice and social determinants of health in all responsibilities.
• Support clients to navigate the health care system and access needed services.
• Provide trauma-informed, person-centered, gender-inclusive, holistic care.
• Deliver care in a person- and family-centered model with coordination and referral as needed.

About The Job

The Registered Nurse (RN) - Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH):

• Provides comprehensive and coordinated nursing services related to sexual and reproductive health including but not limited to; sexually transmitted and blood borne infection (STBBI) screening, testing, treatment and contact tracing, contraceptive management, pelvic exams, cervical cancer screening, and HIV pre and post exposure prophylaxis, immunizations and gender affirming care.
• Applies a health equity, social justice, and social determinates of health lens to all key responsibilities
• Ensures clients are supported in navigating the health care system
• Provides trauma informed, person centered, gender inclusive, holistic and culturally safe care, honouring Indigenous knowledge, wisdom and diversity
• Provides care within a person and family centered care model.

The role includes a strong focus on prevention, education, health promotion, assessment, treatment, contact tracing, coordination, support, liaison, and client referral to other health services.

The nurse works in partnership with other health care providers and community-based services and agencies, both internal and external to IH, providing clinic-based services as well as outreach-based services. These services may be outside of the nurse’s home community.

This is a Relief Part Time (0.62) opportunity.

Shifts of work will be scheduled days, Wednesday/Thursday/Friday from 08:30 to 16:30 hours.
