Job summary

Halton Healthcare in Georgetown, Ontario, is seeking a Registered Nurse to apply the nursing process in the Surgical Day Care and PACU, including Pre-Admission Clinic patients.

Permanent part-time (0.60 FTE) with 7.5-hour rotating shifts Mon-Sun; on-call PACU shifts as needed. Must hold BLS, ACLS, PALS and Ontario registration, with prior Surgical Day Care and PACU experience.

Qualifications

  • Current registration in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
  • Heart & Stroke approved Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required at time of hire.
  • ACLS Certification required at time of hire and ongoing.
  • Current >3 years Surgical Day Care nursing experience or equivalent.
  • Current >5 years PACU nursing experience required.
  • Critical Care Nursing course and/or PACU course required.
  • PALS certification required at time of hire and ongoing.
  • Experience with administering IV drugs below the drip chambers, central lines, Epidural/ PCA pump, ECG machines, invasive pressure monitoring.
  • Experience with phlebotomy, paracentesis, and other ambulatory care procedures.
  • Ability to interpret advanced arrhythmias
  • Must possess excellent decision making & critical thinking skills
  • Flexible, good team player with positive attitude.
  • Ability to function in a fast-paced environment.
  • Caring attitude with patients, families and co-workers.
  • Satisfactory employment and attendance record required.

Responsibilities

  • Apply all aspects of the nursing process to the care of the surgical day patient in a professional and multi-disciplinary team.

Job Description

Apply all aspects of the nursing process to the care of the surgical day patient in a professional and multi-disciplinary team. In addition, the successful candidate will be responsible for providing care to patients in the Post Anaesthesia Care Unit (PACU) and Surgical Day Care and Pre-Admission Clinic.

Qualifications
  • Current registration in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario
  • Current Heart & Stroke approved Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required at time of hire
  • ACLS Certification required at time of hire and ongoing

  • Coronary Care 1 and 2 preferred
  • PALS certification required at time of hire and ongoing
  • Experience with administering IV drugs below the drip chambers, central lines, Epidural/ PCA pump, ECG machines, invasive pressure monitoring required.
  • Experience with phlebotomy, paracentesis, and other ambulatory care procedures.

Additional Information

Hours:Monday to Sunday - Various rotating shifts-- Days and Evenings -- 7.5 hour shifts. On call PACU shifts scheduled (hours subject to change based on operational requirements)

Salary: $41.15 to $58.98 per hour
