Job summary

Carrier Sekani Family Services (CSFS) is seeking a Registered Nurse for Youth Services in Prince George, BC. The nurse provides tailored care for individuals with acute or chronic substance use within family and community contexts.

Responsibilities include clinical nursing, information gathering, timely reporting, and collaborative planning with families and referents to develop intervention goals. A strong emphasis on culture and community is central to the role.

Qualifications

• Current RN registration with the BC College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
• Poised to practice OP Therapy via BCCSU program or willing to obtain.
• CPR Level C certification.
• RN First Call or Remote Certified practice or willing to obtain.
• RN Contraception Management certification or willing to obtain.
• RN Immunization Certification or willing to obtain.
• RN STI/STBBI management certification or willing to obtain.
• BCCfE Clinical Education/Training or willing to obtain.
• BCCfE PREP Course or willing to obtain.

Responsibilities

• Provide clinical, concrete and advocacy services to families with substance use in alignment with family values and culture.
• Collect information using observation, communication and assessment to tailor nursing care.
• Write timely reports of assessments, education and evaluation of care.

The Opportunity

The Registered Nurse Substance Use and Addiction is responsible for providing a tailored blend of health care services within the context of an individual who has acute or chronic substance use, intoxication, or withdrawal in keeping with the individual’s lifestyle, family, and community.

• Provide a range of clinical, concrete and advocacy services to family members with drug and alcohol dependency that are consistent with the family’s values, learning styles, lifestyle, circumstances and culture
• Collect information from a variety of sources using skills of observation, communication and physical assessment to enable the provision of appropriate nursing care
• Write timely and accurate reports of relevant assessments and observations including patient and family education and evaluation of nursing care
• Collaborate with family members and referents in developing intervention goals and service plans

What You Will Bring to The Role:

• Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM)
• British Columbia Centre on Substance Use (BCCSU) -Provincial Opioid Addictions Treatment Support Program (POATSP) for RN/RPN prescribing Opioid Agonist Therapy, or willing to obtain
• Current CPR (level C) certification
• RN first Call or Remote Certified practice, or willing to obtain
• RN Contraception Management certified, or willing to obtain
• RN Immunization Certification certified, or willing to obtain
• RN STI/STBBI management certified, or willing to obtain
• British Columbia Centre for Excellence in HIV/AIDs (BCCfE)- Clinical Education and Training Program, or willing to obtain
• BCCfE- Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PREP) Course, or willing to obtain

Wage Range:

The target hiring range for this position is $45.91 to $59.45 per hour. Candidates will typically be hired, transferred or promoted between the minimum and midpoint of the wage range. Placement within the wage range is dependent on the applicants’ role specific knowledge, skills, abilities, related experience and in consideration of factors such as market conditions and internal equity.
