Position Overview

We are seeking compassionate and experienced Registered Nurses or Registered Psychiatric Nurses to work with trauma-informed care at the Forensic Psychiatric Hospital in Coquitlam, BC. This role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact within a specialized forensic mental health setting, collaborating with an interdisciplinary team to deliver high-quality, culturally safe care.

About the Forensic Psychiatric Hospital

The FPH is a 190-bed secure facility serving individuals found not criminally responsible or unfit to stand trial due to mental health issues, located on the traditional territory of the kwikwəƛ̓əm First Nation. We utilize a clinical program model tailored to meet the specific needs of our patients.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care according to individualized care plans, including medication administration and behavior management.
• Recognize and report changes in patient conditions, maintaining accurate records.
• Develop and evaluate care plans in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team and patients' families.
• Participate in assessments, screenings, and interdisciplinary meetings to ensure comprehensive care.

Qualifications

• Current registration as a Registered Nurse or Registered Psychiatric Nurse with BC College of Nurses & Midwives.
• Graduation from an accredited nursing or psychiatric nursing program.
• At least 1 year of recent experience in forensic or acute psychiatric settings preferred.
• CPR/BCLS Level 1 certification.
• Knowledge of Indigenous cultural safety, systemic racism, and commitment to anti-racism practices.
