Job description

Position Summary

Do you have a passion for nursing? We have the position for you! We are seeking a motivated Registered Nurse with a dedication to delivering compassionate patient care to join our team at Kitimat General Hospital.

In accordance with established hospital policies and procedures, the successful candidate will provide and coordinate nursing care to assigned patients, consistent with current standards of nursing practice and the clinical specialty of operating room nursing and post-anaesthetic care nursing. Responsibilities include scheduled on-call duties for emergency surgery and PACU assignments.

The candidate will support and participate in all aspects of Operating Room, surgical, PAR, and pre-screening nursing care, including support to GP Anesthetists. Participation in the OR team on-call schedule is required. Operating Room Nursing Certification is mandatory.

Shift Rotation/Hours of Work: Monday to Friday, Days, 07:30 to 15:30

Kitimat General Hospital and Health Centre is a 20-bed Acute Care unit, including 2 maternity beds. It integrates Acute Care, residential care, public health, and community care within one facility. Services include:

  • Emergency
  • Physiotherapy
  • Radiology
  • Laboratory
  • Diabetes and Chronic Disease Management
  • Outpatient Community Chemotherapy Clinic
  • Regional Orthopaedic Centre
  • Regional Palliative Care Nurse Consultant
  • Mountainview Lodge, a 36-bed residential and complex care facility
  • Public Health Team

Kitimat is located on the Douglas Channel, surrounded by ocean, mountains, and valleys. Built in the 1950s, it is one of BC's youngest coastal communities. Main industries include aluminum smelting, pulp and paper, and petrochemicals. The population is approximately 8,236.
