Job Description

In accordance with the Vision, Purpose, and Values, and strategic direction of the Vancouver Island Health Authority, patient safety is a priority and a shared responsibility at VIHA. Continuous improvement in quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.

Reports to the Manager, Renal Services. Provides nursing care to patients with chronic and acute renal failure undergoing hemodialysis. Works both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team. Establishes therapeutic relationships with patients and families, assessing bio-psycho-social and learning needs, and collaborates to support informed choice and self-care.

Qualifications:

Education, Training, and Experience:

• Registration with BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing RN.
• Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification.
• Recent (within past 5 years) hemodialysis experience or completion of a recognized Nephrology Nursing program, or equivalent.
