Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with all members of the healthcare team.
• Protect patients and employees by adhering to infection control policies, medication administration and storage procedures, and controlled substances regulations.
• Document patient care appropriately in the medical record.
• Participate cooperatively and communicate effectively with team members.
• Maintain patient confidence and protect operations by keeping information confidential.
• Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops and participating in professional societies.
• Participate in educational programs as required.
• Assist with the orientation and support for new staff to the facility.
• Perform related duties as assigned by the leader.
• Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures.
• Participate as a team member.

Required Qualifications:

• Completion of an accredited nursing education program.
• Active/eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Saskatchewan or the Saskatchewan Association of Licensed Practical Nurses.
• Canadian Nurses Association (CNA) perioperative nursing certification or completion of a perioperative nursing program or equivalent in education and experience.
• Ability to perform consistently in a highly organized, rapid-moving, complex environment.
• Ability to collaborate within a highly complex integrated team.
• Ability to wear lead apron protection for extended periods.
• Ability to cope and perform effectively in stressful and/or emergent situations.

Physical Requirements:

• The work environment can be physically demanding, requiring lifting and transferring patients.
• Must be able to lift/push/pull more than 25 pounds.
• May work in challenging and stressful circumstances, such as emergencies.
• Exposure to blood, body fluids, infectious diseases, chemicals, and other safety hazards is possible.

The Registered Nurse (RN) provides a wide variety of nursing services to patients and families, using standard nursing processes including critical thinking, problem solving, decision making, teaching, counseling, and advocacy. The RN has the education and clinical experience to assess, treat, and educate patients undergoing various surgical procedures.
