Job summary

North Bay Regional Health Centre is seeking a Registered Nurse to join the Kidney Clinic - Hemodialysis. The unit supports up to sixteen patients with a multidisciplinary team including nephrologists, RNs, renal aides, dietitians, social workers, clerks, biomedical staff and volunteers.

The successful candidate will apply recent hemodialysis and CKD experience, provide patient teaching, and contribute to safety and quality improvement in a dynamic care setting.

Qualifications

• Current Certificate of Registration — College of Nurses of Ontario in good standing.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) for Health Care Providers (HCP) certificate current within last 12 months.
• Recent (1–2 years) Hemodialysis experience in last 2–3 years.
• Recent (1–2 years) CKD nephrology clinic experience in last 2–3 years.
• Recent (2–3 years) Medical/Surgical experience in last 2–3 years.
• Experience in Nephrology clinic setting incl. PD and post‑transplant in last 2–3 years.
• Nephrology certification (C‑Neph(c)) is an asset.
• Ability to problem solve and calmly handle crises and client/family issues.
• Commitment to ongoing competency in Nephrology and leadership through education and practice.
• Bilingualism (Advanced English/French) required; formal French test may be conducted.

Department: Kidney Clinic - Hemodialysis

Initial competition is now closed. We are continuing to accept applications until a candidate is selected.

The Renal unit provides hemodialysis for patients who require renal replacement therapy. The unit can provide treatments for up to sixteen patients at one time. The team includes Nephrologists, Registered Nurses, Renal Aides, Dietitians, Social Workers, Clerks, Biomedical staff, and Volunteers.

QUALIFICATIONS

Certification/Experience/Knowledge:

• Current Certificate of Registration ~ College of Nurses of Ontario in good standing required
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) for Health Care Providers (HCP) certificate required (within the last twelve months)
• Recent (1-2 years) experience in Hemodialysis (within past 2-3 years) required.
• Recent (1-2 years) experience in Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) (within the last 2-3 years) required
• Recent (2-3 years) Medical/Surgical experience (within the last 2-3 years) required
• Recent (2-3 years) experience in Nephrology clinic setting with nephrology, pre-dialysis, Peritoneal Dialysis (PD) and post-transplant patients (within last 2-3 years) required
• Nephrology (C-Neph(c)) Certification an asset
• Ability to problem solve and handle crisis situations, client/family issues in a calm and capable manner required
• Demonstrated commitment to maintain competency in Nephrology and in leadership through ongoing education and practice

• Bilingualism (Advanced level English/French) is required.
