Job summary

Groves Memorial Community Hospital is seeking a Registered Nurse for the OBS/Surgical Inpatient unit on a temporary full-time basis. The role requires current nursing registration, BCLS, NRP or willingness to obtain, and ACoRN certification.

Neonatal and perinatal credentials are highly valued, with emphasis on antepartum through newborn care. The candidate will provide patient-centered care across shifts, participate in breastfeeding advocacy, and collaborate within a multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications

• Must hold a Certificate of Competence for the College of Nurses.
• BCLS certification is required.
• NRP certification or willingness to complete within six months.
• ACoRN certification is required (or willing to obtain).
• PALS certification preferred.
• IV start and IV meds certification including Central Venous Access Devices.
• Experience in antepartum, labour, delivery, postpartum and newborn care; one year full-time experience preferred.
• Perinatal Certificates I & II with fetal surveillance preferred.
• Advocacy for breastfeeding with interest in lactation certification.
• Surgical experience and complex continuing care experience are assets.
• Good communication and patient teaching skills; patient-focused and team oriented.
• Satisfactory references; police vulnerable sector check; pre-employment health assessment.

REGISTERED NURSE – OBS/SURGICAL INPATIENT

(TEMPORARY FULL TIME)

One (1) temporary full time Registered Nurse position is available in the OBS/Surgical Inpatient unit at Groves Memorial Community Hospital.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Current certificate of Competence for College of Nurses
• Current certificate in BCLS
• Certificate for neo-natal resuscitation (NRP) or willing to complete within six (6) months
• ACoRN required (or willing to obtain)
• PALS preferred
• Certified to start IV’s and give IV meds, including Central Venous Access Devices
• Demonstrated well-developed assessment and nursing skills for antepartum, labour, delivery, post partum, as well as assessment & care of the newborn. (One year full-time experience preferred)
• Perinatal Certificates I & II (including Fetal Surveillance) preferred
• Appropriate advocate with support skills for breastfeeding—interest in pursuing breast feeding certification
• Surgical experience an asset
• Complex Continuing Care experience an asset
• Good communication and patient teaching skills
• Patient focused and Team orientated
• Satisfactory performance and attendance required
• Satisfactory Reference Checks required prior to start date
• Must provide a Police Vulnerable Sector Check
• Must complete a Pre-Employment Health Assessment prior to being hired

HOURS:

• Must be available for all three shifts, and weekends
• As per department schedule

SALARY:

• $41.15 - $58.98 per hour
