CHEO in Ottawa is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Medical Day Unit on a permanent casual basis. The role focuses on assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating nursing care for pediatric patients and families in Oncology, Hematology and Nephrology.

You will practice per the College of Nurses of Ontario and CHEO standards, promote recovery and provide learning experiences to patients and families while participating in quality improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Current Ontario Registration with the CNO (Essential)
  • Current BCLS certificate (Essential)
  • Two (2) year paediatric experience (Preferred)
  • 6 months of Hematology & Oncology experience (Preferred)
  • Baccalaureate degree in Nursing (Preferred)
  • APHON certification (Preferred)
  • Vulnerable Sector Check (Essential)
  • Bilingual (English/French) (Essential)

Responsibilities

  • Reporting to the Manager, demonstrate clinical skills in nursing care for patients and families in Oncology, Hematology & Nephrology.
  • Practice according to standards set by the College of Nurses of Ontario and hospital guidelines.
  • Provide learning experiences for patient and family to promote recovery and wellness.
  • Maintain competence and develop expertise in professional practice quality.
  • Use interpersonal, communication and collaborative skills to facilitate a team environment.
  • Participate in Quality Improvement and Research opportunities.
