Job summary

Sault Area Hospital is seeking a registered nurse to join the 3B Medicine unit, a 50-bed team focused on adult and geriatric/palliative care. You will work within an interdisciplinary team to deliver patient-centered care, use the nursing process, and participate in ongoing quality improvement.

You will demonstrate strong communication, critical thinking, and clinical assessment skills while maintaining commitment to best practices and safety standards in a dynamic hospital setting in Ontario.

Qualifications

• Must hold current registration with College of Nurses of Ontario in Good Standing.
• BCLS certification required; venipuncture certification preferred.
• Proven ability to communicate effectively with patients, families and interdisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

• Participate and collaborate with other health care providers in patient care.
• Apply Standards of Nursing Practice and Nursing Process in assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation.
• Assist in planning corrective actions to ensure patient and staff safety.

Purpose

3B Medicine at Sault Area Hospital is a dynamic and collaborative environment, featuring 50 beds and a primary focus on adult patients, with a particular emphasis on geriatric/palliative care. The unit is dedicated to delivering patient-centered care, ensuring that the needs and preferences of each individual are at the forefront of treatment. This unit provides an excellent opportunity for healthcare professionals to develop and expand their skills while working with an interdisciplinary team of experts. The patient population often consists of acutely ill individuals with multi-system chronic illnesses, offering a challenging and rewarding setting for those passionate about improving the quality of life for older adults.

Duties

• Participate and collaborate with other health care providers in the provision of patient care.
• Effectively use the Standards of Nursing Practice and the Nursing Process in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the care of the patient.
• Provides assistance in planning corrective actions to ensure safety for patients and staff.
• Compliant with legislation, organizational and departmental, regulations, standards and procedures related to occupational health and safety.
• Maintain commitment to self-growth and professional development by remaining current in knowledge and application of best practice through the utilization of appropriate research and literature.
• Demonstrate good interpersonal and conflict resolution skills.
• Participate in ongoing quality improvement and risk management activities.
• Maintain current knowledge of best practices and benchmarks for the delivery of services, appropriate research, literature, accreditation requirements, and implementing improvements/changes as appropriate.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Current Registration with College of Nurses of Ontario in Good Standing
• BCLS Certification required
• Current certification in venipuncture (I.V. certification).
