Job summary

Covenant Health in Edmonton is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse for Labour and Delivery at Misericordia Community Hosp. The role spans antepartum, intrapartum and immediate postpartum care within a family-centered, Baby-Friendly environment.

The successful candidate will have current CRNA registration, NRP and Fetal Health Surveillance certs, and at least 2 years of labour and delivery experience. Perioperative experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an RN program; active registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA) required.
• Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (Level C) required.
• Two years of recent labour and delivery experience.
• Current NRP and Fetal Health Surveillance certifications.

Responsibilities

• Participates in nursing assessments and interventions, care planning, implementing treatments, and documenting progress.
• Administers medications and evaluates treatment effectiveness in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team.
• Facilitates patient and family education and discharge planning; may act as charge nurse.
• Provides care in alignment with Covenant Health standards and mission.

Description:

The Registered Nurse (RN) participates in nursing assessments and interventions, care planning, implementing prescribed treatments, administering medications, evaluating treatments, and monitoring/documenting treatment progress and patient/resident response. Acting as an advocate, coordinator and liaison for the patient/resident, the RN identifies needs and sets priorities in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team. The RN facilitates patient/resident and family education and discharge planning, and may be required to act in a charge nurse capacity. The RN is responsible for the provision of care in accordance with established standards, and the Mission, Vision, Values, policies and procedures of Covenant Health. This position is covered by the terms and conditions of the UNA Collective Agreement.

Required Qualifications:

Additional Required Qualifications:

A minimum of 2 years recent labour and delivery experience. Current NRP and Fetal Health Surveillance certifications.

Preferred Qualifications:

Perioperative or ORNAC course completion preferred, in addition to unit specific operating room orientation. Experience in labour and delivery operating room, including scrubbing, circulating, and OPARR. Current or previous committee participation an asset.
