Job summary

Michael Garron Hospital in Toronto seeks an experienced Registered Nurse to deliver comprehensive nursing care in alignment with Ontario College of Nurses standards and hospital guidelines.

You will assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient needs, working alongside an interdisciplinary team to coordinate care and lead the care planning process. Strong communication, leadership, and clinical competencies are essential.

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse with current Certificate of Registration issued by the College of Nurses of Ontario.
• BScN preferred.
• Gerontology certificate an asset.
• CNA certification in Medical-Surgical Nursing or subspecialties an asset.
• Current BCLS required.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care as per Ontario College of Nurses standards and hospital policies.
• Assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient needs in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team.
• Promote optimal patient functioning and coordinate care with the health care team.

Education

• Successful completion of gerontology certificate an asset.
• Canadian Nurses Association (CNA) certification in Medical-Surgical Nursing or any subspecialties an asset.
• Current BCLS required.

Qualifications

• Previous 3-4 years’ experience with the following patient populations – Acute Medicine, Cardiology, Oncology, Diabetic/Endocrine, and Gerontology preferred , HIV/AIDS.
• Demonstrated excellent interpersonal, organizational, leadership and critical thinking skills.
• Ability to promote optimum level of patient functioning through skills in coordinating care with health care team and leading the care planning process.
• Developed skills in PIV and S/L initiation and venopuncture required.
• Expertise in assessing and maintaining PICC lines.

Demonstrated expertise in adult learning principles.

• Willingness to actively participate in Hospital and Health Service councils and task groups.
• Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
• Maintains competence relative to current practice.
• Strong leadership skills and experience taking the lead in multidisciplinary teams.
• Demonstrated ability to implement plan of care including independent and interdependentnursing functions.
• Demonstrated ability to participate in unit quality initiatives and measurements.
• Demonstrated understanding of accountability based practice.
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate with a highly skilled interdisciplinary team.
• Demonstrated ability to multi-task and prioritize to meet the needs of the unit.
• Experience with patient teaching programs (individual and group).
