Job summary

Providence Care Hospital in Kingston, Ontario, is seeking a Registered Nurse to deliver direct professional nursing care for patients with complex mental health needs. The RN will use the nursing process to implement autonomous actions that promote positive outcomes and collaborate with families and the clinical team.

The role requires current Ontario RN registration, CPR certification, and experience in acute psychiatric settings; BSc.N. is preferred.

Qualifications

• Current, unrestricted registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
• BSc.N. preferred.
• Must have recent experience in an acute psychiatric setting.
• Must have current CPR certification.

Responsibilities

• Completing a nursing history based on information from patient, family and other sources.
• Developing and recording a comprehensive goal oriented nursing care plan in collaboration with the patient based on assessed needs.
• Developing therapeutic relationships with patients and families.
• Accurately following the prescribed medical regime.
• Recognizes, analyzes, interprets and manages deviations from the predicted client response.
• Revising nursing care plans based on evaluation using professional judgment and autonomous decision-making.

To provide direct professional nursing care for patients requiring complex mental health services. Utilizing the principles of the nursing process, the RN will implement autonomous nursing actions to ensure that services provided promote positive patient outcomes. The RN, in partnership with the patients and their families and in collaboration with the clinical team, will coordinate and support the patient’s journey toward maximum independence and wellness.
