Job summary

Grand River Hospital's WRHN Midtown campus in Ontario is seeking a Temporary Part Time Registered Nurse for the Emergency Department. The role requires functioning interdependently with the multidisciplinary team to assess the needs of adult and pediatric patients and maintain a safe environment for patients, staff and visitors.

Applicants must hold a Certificate of Competence from the College of Nurses of Ontario, with BCLS, ACLS and PALS, and have at least one year of Emergency/Critical Care

Qualifications

• Current Certificate of Competence from College of Nurses of Ontario.
• BCLS, ACLS & PALS certification required.
• Minimum of one year in Emergency/Critical Care; includes blood products administration, urinary/gastric catheter insertion, and IV therapy.
• Competency in cardiac rhythm interpretation and advanced IV medication administration.

Responsibilities

• Contributes to maintaining a safe environment for patients, staff and visitors.

Position Summary:

Functioning interdependently with members of the multidisciplinary team; assesses the needs of adult and pediatric patients requiring care in the Emergency Department. Contributes to ensuring there is a safe environment for patients, staff and visitors.

Position Requirements:

• Current Certificate of Competence from College of Nurse of Ontario
• BCLS, ACLS & PALS Certification is required
• Minimum of one-year current nursing experience to include:
• Blood and Blood Products Administration
• Urinary and Gastric Catheter Insertion
• Glucose Point of Care Testing
• Management of Patients with Intravenous Therapy
• Minimum of one-year experience in an Emergency/Critical Care Setting and who demonstrates competency in:
• Cardiac Rhythm Interpretation (Basic Cardiac Arrhythmia Course)
• Venipuncture to initiate IV Therapy
• Advanced IV Medication Administration to include direct IV Administration and Special IV Infusions such as Inotropes
• Application of Energy to include Defibrillation and Transthoracic Pacing
• Successfully completed one or more of the following certificate programs/courses
• TNCC/ATLS
• Triage
• Physical Assessment
• Cardiac Arrhythmia
• Good attendance record
