Job summary

Halton Healthcare is seeking an experienced OB nurse to provide triage and care for pregnant patients throughout labour and birth (vaginal and Caesarean). The role includes maternal and newborn care within the LBRP model and recovery after delivery.

Requirements include current RN registration in Ontario, BLS, 2+ years in obstetrics, obstetric OR certification/experience, and a breastfeeding certificate. The position features rotating 12‑hour shifts and a temporary 18‑month contract.

Qualifications

• Current registration in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario is required.
• Heart & Stroke approved Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required at time of hire.
• Minimum 2 years of recent obstetrics experience including intra-partum care is required.
• Current Obstetric OR certificate and/or experience is required.
• Perioperative experience is an asset.
• Perinatal nursing certificate is an asset.
• Proficiency with venipuncture and IVs is expected.
• Competency with vaginal exams during labour is required.
• Breastfeeding certificate is required; ability to assist breastfeeding.
• Demonstrated commitment to family centered care, continuing education, and meeting physical demands.

Responsibilities

• Provide triage and care to the pregnant woman throughout labour and birth, including vaginal and Caesarean deliveries.
• Support recovery of the Caesarean mother and provide maternal and newborn care within the LBRP model.
• Demonstrate strong patient‑centered care and effective communication in a dynamic, team‑based environment.
