Job summary

Halton Healthcare in Oakville, ON, seeks a temporary part-time Obstetric nurse to provide triage and care for laboring patients, including vaginal and Caesarean deliveries, and post-delivery maternal/newborn care within the LBRP model. The role is 0.60 FTE, with rotating 12-hour day/night shifts, approx.

18 months. Required: Ontario RN registration, BLS, 2+ years obstetrics, obstetric OR certificate or experience, and breastfeeding certification.

Qualifications

• Current registration in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
• Heart & Stroke approved Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required at time of hire.
• Minimum of 2 years recent experience in Obstetrics (including intra-partum care).
• Current Obstetric O.R. certificate and/or experience required.
• Perioperative experience an asset.
• Perinatal Nursing Certificate an asset.
• Proficient in venipuncture and IVs.
• Competency with vaginal exams during labour.
• Breastfeeding certificate required.
• Demonstrated ability to assist and support breastfeeding.
• Demonstrated commitment to family centered care.
• Dedication to continuing education.
• Must be able to meet the physical demands of the position.
• Satisfactory employment and attendance record required.

• The ideal candidate is strong in patient centered care in a dynamic, rapidly changing environment and should be ready to drive change and innovation. We require a person with good communication skills with a clear patient focus with the ability to manage execution and to foster teamwork and cooperation.
