Alberta Health Services in Edmonton is seeking a Registered Nurse to join the Edmonton Zone Virtual Home Hospital (EZVHH) team. You will deliver comprehensive nursing care virtually and at multiple EZVHH sites, partnering with primary care, specialists and home care to support safe, patient- and family-centred care.
Responsibilities include assessment, care planning, teaching and advocacy. Provisional permit holders are paid a preliminary rate with full permit adjustments per UNA guidelines.
This is an exciting opportunity to be a part of the Edmonton Zone Virtual Home Hospital (EZVHH) team using innovative health care for complex problem solving. EZVHH uses the ever-evolving power of technology to enable patients to leave or avoid the hospital and receive quality care in the comforts of their own home. Currently, EZVHH has 45 Medicine Beds and 30 Surgical Beds; the team focuses on virtual adult acute med/surg inpatient care. To provide quality care, the team of multidisciplinary professionals monitor patients virtually in collaboration with primary care providers, specialists, the Mobile Integrated Health team, and homecare while involving patients and caregivers in shared decision making as members of the care team. The EZVHH has unique pathways that help provide the necessary health care services to the ever-changing needs of Albertans: preventing emergency visits, hospital admissions and supporting early discharges home. As a key member of the EZVHH team, the Registered Nurse (RN) works collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team to provide comprehensive assessment, diagnosis and care planning for patients with a variety of complex acute medical conditions and surgical needs. The RN will visit multiple sites within the EZ providing program education and case finding support to our partners. All duties and responsibilities of the RN will follow the guidelines developed by the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta.
As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit holders will be paid $40.76 to $55.79 per hour. Upon obtaining a full practice permit, the rate of pay will be adjusted to the applicable Registered Nurse rate in accordance with UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii), as applicable.
Completion of an accredited nursing education program.Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA).Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification.
Additional Required Qualifications:3-5 years of demonstrated nursing leadership skills with charge nurse experience, in a medical and surgical environment, with a proven track record of excellent communication with patients and various care providers. Proficiency with computers, Connect Care and familiarity and comfort with use of Zoom and digital Remote Patient Monitoring. Must be able to tolerate long periods of sitting, standing and walking, work at multiple acute care sites, the ability to carry 15-25 lbs. of patient monitoring equipment through acute care sites, and ability to assess patients on inpatient units and in the ED as required. Edmonton Zone Virtual Home Hospital required.
Preferred Qualifications:Experience in specialty medicine/surgical areas such as Cardiac Sciences, ICU, ED, urological/gynecological surgery or nephrology is an asset.
