Job summary

AgeCare Oshawa is seeking a Registered Nurse to join our long-term care team. You will coordinate nursing and related services to support residents’ needs, working within your scope of practice and AgeCare policies.

You will lead shift reports, monitor residents’ status, review physician orders for timely execution, and document changes in the chart. A Bachelor’s degree in Nursing and active provincial registration are required.

Qualifications

  • Sound knowledge of geriatric, rehabilitation or long-term care nursing.
  • Knowledge of activation and personnel administration.
  • Registration in good standing with provincial registry and standards.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates nursing and other services for residents within the neighbourhood and with other services within the residence.
  • Leads shift report with health care team, communicating changes in residents’ status.
  • Reviews and processes physician orders per procedure, ensuring timely implementation and escalation as needed.
  • Documents significant changes in residents’ condition in the resident chart per AgeCare policies.

They will integrate and apply the knowledge, skills, judgment, and interpersonal attributes required to provide safe and ethical professional nursing services to residents.The RN provides quality and safe resident care. The RN promotes teamwork and a culture that supports AgeCare Mission, Vision and Guiding Principles of Respect, Teamwork, Quality and encourages practices that respect resident, family and staff rights, individuality, and diversity. The RN promotes health and safety awareness in the workplace. Within the scope of this position, the RN takes on a key role to continually provide an environment promoting a culture of resident safety and freedom from harm and injury.What You Will DoCoordinates nursing and other services for the residents within the neighbourhood and with other services within the residence.Leads shift report with members of the health care team, ensuring that all team members are informed of changes in residents’ status.Records significant changes in residents’ condition; ensures documentation in the residents’ chart adheres to AgeCare policies and procedures and Provincial College of Nurses and Standards of Practice.Reviews and processes physician orders as per procedure, ensuring orders are implemented as soon as possible.
