Job summary

Qualifications

• Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario is required.
• Current BCLS/HCP certification is required.
• Experience with seniors and geriatric care is preferred.
• RNAO/CNA membership is preferred.
• Recent general medicine/geriatric nursing experience is preferred.
• Ability to communicate effectively with patients and families is required.

The Program provides primary secondary and tertiary care to a diverse patient mix embracing all age categories socioeconomic backgrounds ethnicities and education levels. The patient population served by the General Internal Medicine interdisciplinary team includes patients with undifferentiated medical illnesses multiple co-morbidities requiring expertise outside the scope of a single primary care physician specialist or sub-specialist that can be acute or chronic in nature. Our skilled and dedicated interdisciplinary health professional team work collaboratively to provide high quality safe ethical and effective care to the patients and families we serve.Position Summary:The Registered Nurse (RN) is a regulated health care professional who adheres to and models the Standards and Guidelines of the College of Nurses of Ontario; the SJHH mission vision and values policies and procedures; and applicable specialty standards. The RN provides patient/client-centred and evidence informed care to promote health and assess the need for the provision of care and the treatment of health conditions by supportive preventative therapeutic palliative and rehabilitation means in order to attain or maintain optimal patient/client function.
