Job summary

Primary Care Alberta is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Best Beginning PPS in East Calgary Health Centre. You will provide a wide range of nursing services to patients, families and communities while ensuring safety and well-being.

You will apply nursing processes, educate and advocate for patients, and lead an integrated care approach with a multi-disciplinary team.

Qualifications

Job description

The Best Beginning program in Public Health offers comprehensive multi-disciplinary community prenatal support to pregnant persons facing complex social, health and/or economic barriers.The goal of the program is to enhance the client’s capacity to make healthy choices, support healthy pregnancies, reduce barriers to services, and offer support for the successful transition to parenting.Working independently and within a multi-disciplinary team including social workers, dietitians and outreach workers, the Best Beginning RN offers prenatal clinical assessment, community resource referral, and provides care to promote the health and well-being of pregnant persons in the client's home, and various community settings.The RN also provides community group facilitation on various prenatal and postpartum topics such as breast/chest feeding, infant attachment, baby care, self-care, sexual and reproductive health, labour and delivery, labour comfort strategies and infant illness/injury prevention.This opportunity is best suited for a nurse who demonstrates strengths in prenatal assessment, patient and family-centred care, perinatal education, managing diverse high-risk client caseloads, and an ability to connect families with a broad range of community resources.

As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of PCA.PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit holders will be paid $40.76 to $55.79 per hour. Upon obtaining a full practice permit, the rate of pay will be adjusted to the applicable Registered Nurse rate in accordance with UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii), as applicable.

Required Qualifications:

Additional Required Qualifications:

Minimum of 5 years public health nursing experience, with 3 years within the past 5 years working in community prenatal and/or community postpartum nursing. Ability to sit, stand, lift, pull and push, work alone, do stairs, and drive over extendedperiods during the day and in a variety of environmental conditions. Extensive knowledge of community and healthresources supporting pregnant and parenting families. Experience working independently in a community settingwith diverse high-risk client caseloads. Demonstrated strong prenatal nursing assessment skills. Experience workingeffectively within a collaborative multi-disciplinary team model. Experience with group facilitation.

Preferred Qualifications:

3 years labour and delivery unit experience in addition to community prenatal or community postpartum nursing. CurrentInternational Board Certified Lactation Consultant preferred.
