Job description

Job Summary

Kinesiologist at Canadian Shield Health Care Services will work in the Rehabilitation Services Department under the direct supervision of the Manager of Rehabilitation Services. The role involves conducting physical assessments, developing treatment plans, and collaborating with physiotherapists and other healthcare professionals to deliver patient-centered care. The Kinesiologist will also develop SMART goals, make appropriate referrals, and work within an interdisciplinary team to provide holistic care.

The successful candidate will:

  1. Perform physical tests and functional exams for clients with neuromusculoskeletal conditions, adhering to standards set by the College of Kinesiologists of Ontario.
  2. Discuss findings with the rehabilitation team and collaborate on recovery plans.
  3. Provide evidence-based treatment and interventions, maintaining comprehensive documentation on Telus Collaborative Health Record.
  4. Design therapeutic exercise programs and educational plans.
  5. Mentor and train team members, including assistants and students.
  6. Participate in interdisciplinary team rounds and contribute to program development.
  7. Manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including community partners and healthcare providers.
  8. Travel occasionally to satellite sites as needed.
  9. Identify process improvements and contribute to quality initiatives.
  10. Ensure confidentiality and adhere to infection prevention protocols.
  11. Maintain equipment and supplies, and participate in ongoing professional development.

Qualifications include a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Kinesiology or Human Kinetics, registration with the College of Kinesiologists of Ontario, and proof of liability insurance if applicable. The candidate should possess excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team. Geriatric experience and familiarity with community resources are assets.
