Job summary

Winnipeg Regional Health Authority invites applications for a Registered Dietitian – Wellness Institute in Winnipeg. This in-person role supports clinical nutrition services within the Wellness Institute, with part-time 0.20 FTE hours and 7.75 daily hours.

The successful candidate will have a BSc in Human Nutritional Sciences, completed dietetic internship, and registration with the College of Dietitians of Manitoba; CPR and vulnerable sector screening are required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Human Nutritional Sciences or related field.
  • Graduate of an accredited dietetic internship or Master of Applied Nutrition program.
  • Registered Dietitian with College of Dietitians of Manitoba; CPR training per policy.

Registered Dietitian - Wellness Institute
Experience
  • Two years of clinical nutrition experience preferred.
  • Specialized training or demonstrated expertise in the applicable practice area preferred.
Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)
  • Bachelor of Science Degree, Human Nutritional Sciences, dietetic or related area from an accredited Canadian university program or the approved equivalent if internationally educated.
  • Graduate of a recognized dietetic internship program or practical training program including Master of Applied (Human) Nutrition programs, which has been accredited by the applicable certifying body required.
  • Certified Diabetes Educator (preferred).

Special Training

  • Motivational Interviewing/Health Behaviour Change training (preferred).
Certification/Licensure/Registration
  • Must be a Registered Dietitian or Graduate Dietitian with the College of Dietitians of Manitoba.
  • Membership with the Dietitians of Canada (DC) is preferred.
  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Training requirements for this position shall be in accordance with the Employer policy.
  • Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle.

  • Proficient in medical nutrition therapy and evidence-based practice with demonstrated problem solving and critical analysis skills.

  • Skilled in behavior change strategies with effective counseling skills.
  • Knowledgeable in food and nutrient analysis and computerized documentation systems.
  • Proficient in professional correspondence and clinical documentation.
  • Basic cooking skills.
  • Group facilitation and presentation skills, both in-person and virtually.
  • Demonstrated comfort and aptitude for use of electronic medical records (EMR), digital and social media, and other online platforms.
  • Strong customer service skills with an ability to work with clients living with chronic conditions/disease.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to perform the essential physical requirements of the position.
  • May be exposed to infectious diseases, blood and bodily fluids, toxic materials, noise, allergens, and physical or emotional stress.
  • May encounter aggressive or distressed clients or visitors.
  • May be required to travel to off-site locations.
  • May be required to occasionally work extended hours.
  • May be required to work a variety of shifts including evenings and weekends.

This position requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment. The successful candidate will be responsible for any service charges incurred. A security check is considered current if it was obtained no more than six (6) months prior to the start of employment.
