Qualifications

The Registered Dietitian serves as the representative in client care nutritional activities. The Dietitian will provide direct nutritional assessment and counseling to both in-patients and out-patients and assume responsibility for dietary program development and consultation, reassessing priorities quarterly to meet evolving needs of mental health clients. The Dietitian participates as a member of the inter-professional team to develop and implement programs such as cooking groups, staff workshops, and initiatives to prevent chronic diseases and obesity among clients.


Education & Experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nutrition or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience
  • Completion of recognized internship program
  • Registration with the College of Dietitians of Ontario
  • Membership in Dietitians of Canada (preferred)
  • Minimum one year experience as a clinical dietitian in a mental health or chronic care setting (preferred)
Position Duties & Responsibilities
  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nutrition care and education for individuals and groups
  • Screen clients' nutritional status and develop appropriate care plans and interventions
  • Assess laboratory values and other medical data related to nutritional status
  • Monitor clients' nutritional status
  • Counsel clients and/or families or caregivers on nutritional requirements
  • Provide guidance and consult with other healthcare professionals
  • Develop and deliver educational programs for hospital staff as needed
