Qualifications

  • Registered Dietitian must be a member of Dietitians of Canada.
  • Preferred experience in long-term care settings.
  • Bachelor's degree and recognized internship required.

Responsibilities

  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nutritional care for residents.
  • Consult with healthcare professionals on nutrition-related topics.
  • Manage duties of the food service department.

Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
Ability to work well within a cross-functional team
Knowledge and understanding of MOH & LTC standards and guidelines

Education

Bachelor of Science with focus in Food & Nutrition or equivalent
Completion of a recognized Dietetic Internship
Current registration with the College of Dietitians of Ontario
Member of Dietitians of Canada
Experience as a Clinical Dietitian, preferably in long-term care

Job description

Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nutritional care for all residents.

Monitor residents' nutritional status and follow up as required.

Document all interventions in the resident chart.

Consult with and serve as a resource for other healthcare professionals, including physicians, nursing staff, pharmacists, social workers, etc.

Provide advice and communicate with other health professionals regarding therapeutic diet recommendations, swallowing assessments, and other nutrition-related topics.

Develop, implement, and support departmental programs to improve residents' nutritional status, including matters related to risk indicators, quality improvement, productivity, menu development, clinical manual coordination, standards of care, and resident menu satisfaction surveys, in accordance with MOH & LTC standards and guidelines.

Participate in relevant clinical teams and resident care conferences.

Perform other related duties as required or assigned.

Manage assigned duties of the food service department on weekdays and/or weekends.
