Job summary

Extendicare is seeking a Registered Dietitian to translate scientific nutrition information into practical healthy meal plans for residents in residential or institutional settings. You will assess nutritional needs and develop normal and therapeutic menus to support general health.

The role includes maintaining client records, complying with regulatory requirements, and contributing to comprehensive benefits, training, and flexible scheduling as part of Extendicare’s team.

Qualifications

  • Registration/licensing with provincial regulatory college in good standing (Ontario).
  • Experience with pediatric clients is an asset.
  • Knowledge of applicable legislation including Regulated Health Professionals Act, Dietetics Act, Healthcare Consent Act.
  • Current First Aid and CPR certification (within past 12 months).
  • Ability to provide a VPS (Vulnerable Position Screening).

Responsibilities

  • Determine nutritional needs of patients and plan, implement, and evaluate normal and therapeutic menus to maintain and enhance general health
  • Aid in the prevention and/or treatment of inadequate nutrition
  • Maintain professional client records related to client encounters and plans in compliance with ParaMed’s policies and the standards applied by the regulatory body or College of Dieticians.

As a Registered Dietician, you are uniquely trained to translate scientific, medical and nutrition information into practical healthy meal plans for patients and their families. Client groups receiving your treatment may include Pediatrics for in home or school services and/or Adults with medical/health concerns. Care will take place within a residential or institutional setting with referrals generated by a variety of sources including government agencies, employers, insurance companies or private payees.

What you’ll do:
