Job Summary:

This position, with an 80-100% FTE commitment, involves direct patient care, providing screening, assessment, and nutritional counseling or appropriate referrals for UW-Madison students. The role requires:

1. Expertise in nutrition counseling for adolescents and young adults, including care of patients with eating disorders.
2. A strong understanding of the university setting and the diverse backgrounds and needs of the student community.
3. Maintaining professional competency and skills required for practice.

This position promotes healthy lifestyle choices and health maintenance across campus through participation in initiatives and serving as a resource on nutrition topics for UHS staff. Additional duties include teaching, developing educational materials, guest lecturing, student interviews, and outreach activities. The position reports to the Associate Director of Gynecology and Specialty Clinics.

Key Responsibilities:

• 90% Direct Clinical Care:
• Conduct comprehensive nutrition assessments, interpret data, and monitor students at nutritional risk, focusing on those with disordered eating.
• Develop and revise treatment plans based on assessments, addressing issues like eating disorders, diabetes, GI concerns, hypertension, lipid abnormalities, weight concerns, sports nutrition, vegetarian diets, and food intolerances.
• Collaborate with community MDs, therapists, and hospitals on nutritional/behavioral plans.
• Document recommendations in electronic medical records.
• 10% Other Duties:
• Support student organizations and campus nutrition initiatives.
• Participate in health events and collaborate on preventative healthcare topics.
• Engage in quality improvement activities, committees, and represent UHS externally.

Qualifications and Education:

Required: Bachelor's degree in science or related field; 2 years clinical experience; ability to work independently and in teams.
Preferred: Master's degree; 2+ years working with eating disorder patients and college populations.
License: RD license or eligibility in Wisconsin, NPI required.
