Job summary

Comfort Keepers is seeking a Registered Care Aide to support seniors in the Sooke area. You will work with our health care team to deliver home care, assist with ADLs/IADLs, and help clients maintain independence.

Responsibilities include mobility support, meal prep, transportation to appointments, and contributing to care planning. A valid BC Registry Number, reliable vehicle, and willingness to commute are required. Wage starts at CAD 25.00 per hour with benefits and training offered.

Qualifications

• Graduation from a recognized Health Care Assistant program or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience with BC Registry Number.
• Clear criminal record check or ability to obtain one.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
• Ability to deal with others respectfully and effectively.
• Physical ability to carry out duties and to organize work.

As a Caregiveryou will make a difference in your clients lives by:

• Assisting in the delivery of client care and home support services under the direction of the health care team.
• Assist clients with care, observe, and report significant changes in the client’s presentation.
• Collaborate with the health care team, clients, and their caregivers to maximize independence with activities of daily living (ADLs) and instrumental activities of daily living (IADLs).
• Assist clients with Bathing, showering, dressing, mobility, feeding, toileting
• Assist with household activities including meal prep, shopping for groceries laundry etc.
• Motivate, encourage, and involve clients in their care.
• Provide input and feedback in the care planning process to the health care team.
• Maintaining a clean and safe environment for clients and staff.
• Driving client in their vehicle to appointments and outings

Job Requirements:

• Successful graduation from a recognized Health Care Assistant Program or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience with BC Registry Number.
• Have or be able to get a criminal record check
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and proficiently both verbally and in writing.
• Ability to deal with others effectively and respectfully.
• Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
• Ability to organize work.
• Ability to operate related equipment
• Valid driver’s license anda reliable vehicle is a must!
• First Aid/CPR certificate
• Willing to commute

Our office serves seniors across the island and surrounding communities, including Sidney, Saanich, Oak Bay, Fairfield, James Bay, Esquimalt, Westshore and Sooke. This position may require travel to those areas – we do our best to match you with clients in your area.
