Job summary

Thyssen Mining invites a results-driven Area Manager to oversee underground mining projects across Canada. You will provide strategic and operational leadership to Project Managers and site teams, ensuring safety, profitability, and client satisfaction.

With 10+ years in underground mining and 5+ years in senior leadership, you will manage budgets, forecasts, and performance metrics while fostering growth and strong stakeholder relationships nationwide.

Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in mining, engineering technology, business management, or related field.
• At least 10 years of underground mining experience, including 2 years on-siteProject Management.
• Minimum 5 years of senior leadership experience managing multiple projects or units.
• Strong knowledge of underground mining methods, project execution, and contractor management.
• Experience managing budgets, forecasting, and financial performance.
• Valid driver's license with ability to travel extensively.

Responsibilities

• Provide safety leadership and champion a proactive safety culture across operations.
• Lead operations, ensuring staffing, equipment, schedules, and budgets meet objectives.
• Develop and maintain client relationships; participate in negotiations and reviews.
• Oversee workforce management, recruitment, succession planning, and development.
• Ensure compliance with policies, regulatory requirements, and governance standards.
• Monitor KPIs, prepare reports, identify risks and opportunities, and drive improvements.
