Job Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Regional Support Officer with Trade Union experience to join the East of England region. The successful candidate will support the regional team and Head of Region in implementing the ‘Five Pillars’ strategy, focusing on representing members, negotiations, supporting and organising Reps, campaigning, and recruitment.

The role involves working closely with BMA staff and Reps, requiring skills in negotiating, representing, campaigning, and organising within a membership organisation such as a trade union. This is a part-time, fixed-term position for 20 hours per week, lasting 12 months.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the work of the regional team and Head of Region in implementing strategic initiatives.
  • Represent members and negotiate on their behalf.
  • Support and organise Reps, campaigns, and recruitment activities.
  • Collaborate with BMA staff and Reps effectively.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Expert knowledge of industrial relations, employment law, HR policies, and procedures.
  • Strong analytical skills to develop strategies for negotiations, cases, or campaigns.
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiating, influencing, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Knowledge of NHS structures and local medical profession issues.
  • Organisational skills to manage workload and self-discipline for diary management.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to varying situations.
Additional Information

This role is home-based but requires travel across the East of England, primarily Essex. Candidates should be willing to relocate at their own expense if necessary.
