Taylor Valve Technology in Calgary, Alberta is seeking a Regional Sales Manager to acquire, develop and manage customers within a defined territory, support clients, and drive brand preference at the end-user level.

You will build new relationships while maintaining existing accounts, set sales objectives, and execute a regional plan. The role requires effective communication, travel as needed, and a focus on solution selling to meet current and future customer needs.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent; 6+ years in valve or related industry preferred.
  • Ability to travel within territory and to the United States as needed.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.

Responsibilities

Job description

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

The Regional Sales Manager is responsible for acquiring, developing, and managing the customers within a defined territory. The Regional Sales Manager is responsible for all aspects of supporting the customer.The Regional Sales Manager will be responsible for developing new customers, while maintaining the existing customer base, and driving brand preference at the end-user level.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Penetrate competitive accounts within the region.
  • Gain market share within the assigned region.
  • Communicate with customers one-on-one daily.
  • Focus the sales efforts around identifying and fulfilling customers’ current and future needs utilizing solution-selling models.
  • Encourage open communications by listening attentively and actively. Seek to fully understand information from many points of view.
  • Display original thinking and creativity: Meet challenges with resourcefulness: Present ideas and information in a manner that gets others attention.
  • Set and achieve challenging goals; demonstrate persistence and overcome obstacles; measure self against standard of excellence; take calculated risks to accomplish your goals.
  • Manage conflicting priorities and multiple opportunities to find the best way of creating long-term success.
  • Understand organizations strengths & weaknesses: Analyze market and competition with the territory. Establishes sales objectives (Quotas) and creates a sales plan consistent with the objectives (Quotas) and goals set by the Sales/Marketing Manager.Maintain a reporting system to track the goals and objectives in a timely manner.
  • Prepare a budget and control expenses, and report these in a manner established by company policy.
  • Prepare and submit sales call reports weekly to the sales/marketing manager.
  • Maintain a customer database and submit monthly to the sales manager.
  • Maintain an exceptional knowledge of products and can demonstrate products to individuals or groups. Transfer product knowledge to customers, sales representatives, and other internal sales engineers.
  • Coordinates and conducts customer training.
  • Become familiar with Quality systems and all documentation and reporting requirements within the scope of quality programs established by the Quality Manager.
  • Organize and/or attend lunch-and-learns, sales meetings, exhibitions, conventions, trade shows, and other promotional activities.
  • Assist with Pricing of products based on competitor’s pricing established margins.
  • Work closely with Inside Sales Account Representatives and other internal departments in servicing customer accounts.
  • Perform other tasks and jobs assigned by your immediate supervisor or senior company official that may not be directly related to sales activities or your job title or function.
  • Understanding and complying with all directives and company policies both written and verbally communicated by the company officers.
  • Actively purse AML approvals at the end-user level and drive preference with users.
  • Other duties may be assigned.
  • Supervise and direct the sales-related activities of Taylor Valve Technology’s representatives and distributors to ensure their efforts are concentrated on Taylor Valve Technology’s interest.
  • Actively support the training of Taylor Valve Technology’s representatives, distributors, and Taylor Valve Technology’s inside sales personnel.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience

Preferably, bachelor's degree from four-year College or university; and/or six+ years related experience in the valve industry.

Computer Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Adobe, ERP systems, Excel Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.
