Salary : $50.83 per hour as per IBEW Collective Agreement Local 1928

We are seeking a Regional Planner to join our team on a full-time, temporary basis for six months. Reporting to the Planning Supervisor, you will be based at our Kempt Road location and will be responsible for making effective decisions related to field investigation, scoping, estimating, interfaces, and documentation for customer service work, capital projects, and line extensions.

Key responsibilities include :

  • Planning and coordinating the completion of operating, maintenance, and construction activities efficiently and cost-effectively using computerized software.
  • Coordinating job planning activities with customers, other departments, outside agencies, and contractors to optimize resource use and minimize service disruptions.
  • Conducting distribution feeder inspections, inspecting lines, scoping capital project requests, providing detailed cost estimates, and supporting work crews technically.
  • Being available to assist at different locations and traveling across the province as needed.
  • Initiating and processing miscellaneous job orders, ensuring compliance with NSPI standards and billing procedures.
  • Participating in regulatory training and ongoing skill development programs.
  • Ensuring personal and team safety by adhering to Occupational Health and Safety regulations.
  • Contributing to environmental performance initiatives.
  • Working flexibly across the Metro Territory and other regions as required.
  • Residing within 30 minutes of the principal work location and being available for after-hours emergency response.
  • Participating in a rotational standby schedule.

To succeed in this role, you should possess :

  • A Grade XII education or equivalent, with either an Inter-Provincial Red Seal Powerline Technician Certificate and one year of experience, or an Electrical Engineering Technologist qualification with 2-3 years of transmission and distribution design experience.
  • Strong computer skills and familiarity with field planning software used in utility distribution design.
  • Adaptability, self-motivation, and excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Experience managing multiple projects in a deadline-driven environment with strong organizational and coordination skills.
  • Knowledge of NSPI operations, contracts, traffic control, and utility equipment is desirable.
  • A valid Nova Scotia Driver's License with at least two years of driving experience and a satisfactory driver's abstract.
  • Consideration may be given to applicants who have completed a two-year Electrical Technologist program for an Apprenticeship pathway.
